John Butrus, a Munck Butrus Carter, P.C. founding member, has over 20 years trial and litigation experience. Mr. Butrus represents the Firm's intellectual property, corporate, and insurance company clients in complex litigation matters, and provides firm clients with business consulting services. In 1987, Mr. Butrus joined the Dallas County District Attorney's Office as an Assistant District Attorney in the Trial Section. Within 9 months, the District Attorney promoted Mr. Butrus to Chief Misdemeanor Prosecutor, and 3 months thereafter to Felony Prosecutor. During his tenure at the District Attorney's Office, Mr. Butrus tried over 60 misdemeanor and felony jury trials, including twenty-one successful felony jury trials. In 1989, Mr. Butrus joined a multi-national law firm where his practice focused on complex commercial litigation cases. Within three years, the firm promoted Mr. Butrus to Member status; and, in 1996, the firm promoted Mr. Butrus to Senior Member status. During his tenure as a Senior Member civil litigator and trial attorney, Mr. Butrus had lead counsel responsibility, and represented Fortune 100 companies in numerous multi-million dollar litigation matters across the country and abroad. In 1997, Mr. Butrus co-founded a Dallas law firm, which, over a 9 year period, he helped build from a startup entity to a successful litigation boutique with offices in Dallas and Charlotte, North Carolina. Additionally, during this time period, Mr. Butrus continued to represent Fortune 100 corporations in multi-million dollar litigation matters across the country. Mr. Butrus continues to pursue aggressively litigation matters, trials, and appeals on Firm clients behalf, and provides litigation evaluation and business consulting services related to clients' prospective mergers, acquisitions, and other business transactions.
